SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY
Small Business Saturday is coming. This is the day after Black Friday and the first Saturday of the holiday shopping season. If you participate with American Express, the main sponsor of this particular shopping holiday, they will furnish you a store banner and offer other ideas to help promote your business at a discount. Whether or not you accept American Express, I encourage you to use whatever means available to you to capitalize on this national local shopping campaign. In the coming months we will offer some suggestions for promoting your local business for this event, but make plans now to participate. According to a December, 2011 article in Forbes magazine, Peter Cohan describes this as 1 of 4 holidays created for the purpose of shopping. (The others are Black Friday named in 1966 in Philadelphia, Cyber Monday created by shop.org in 2005, and Green Monday, the second Monday in December, created by Ebay in 2007). The day is receiving national notice . . . why not take advantage?
